I'm looking forward to seeing old friends at the reunion, so share a bit of a bio.  After graduation, I moved to Lawrence, where I stayed for 13 years and three degrees, and, best of all, met my wife Mary.  We’ve been together for over 30 years, living in Lawrence, Washington, D.C., and now in rural Johnson County.  We live an old farmhouse with a pond, barns, and the other pleasures of country life.  But we about to make a big change.  We’ve sold the house, and bought a place in Old West Lawrence.  We’re in the process of rehabbing it, and will soon be moving to Lawrence, where we plan to retire.  In terms of career, I started with KU as a transportation planner, and then joined the Federal government as a Presidential Management Intern.  That took me first (and briefly) to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, and then to NASA, where I spent a wonderful 7 years working in IT.  In order to get us back to Kansas, I worked for Sprint for a few years, until I could find a Federal job with the USDA, where I remain.  Mary is a graphics artist.  I am an avid amateur photographer, we have no kids, both love art – especially by local artists – and enjoy traveling.  In the last few years, our favorite destination has been Mexico, where what like to go to new places, rent a car or jeep, and enjoy the freedom of no plans, no schedules, and the open road.

Comment: Glad to see this set up!!  I'm currently living on an island in SW Florida, close to the water....I took early retirement from being an airline pilot (never grew up) after a number of years as a Federal Agent a few years ago, then started an aviation security consulting business that I dabble in these days (when you can get me off the beach), but it's taking too much time in international travel (spent too much time already in airplanes) No longer married or involved, it makes life simpler.

Three grown daughters and 6 grandkids..Do we all actually have grandkids????? Not sure I can make it to the reunion, but certainly glad we are reconnecting!!!  I'd love to hear from my SMN friends!!!

Comment: Hello to all!  Sorry to say I will be missing the reunion festivities.  Thought I'd write a short bio covering my life since 1969.  As many of you may recall we were subject to the first year of the draft lottery.  Lucky me I was number 18!  Knowing the draft would come knocking I decided to beat them to the punch and enlist in the Army.  In doing so I could choose my own career path.  I still went kicking and screaming.  Somewhere along the line, however, I was bitten by the patriotism bug.   Following my 4 year stint in the Army I joined the Air Force Reserves.  25 years later I retired from the military with my last position being the Command Chief Master Sergeant of the 442d FW, Whiteman AFB, MO.  Civilian wise, after being discharged from the Army,  I went to work at the U.S. Department of Housing Development under a Veterans Readjustment Appointment.  After serving as a Public Trust Officer/Single Family Loan Specialist I retired after 38 years service.  Now enjoying retired life with my wife of 48 years, Julie (Howlett) Kottman SMN72, and our 3 grand children.  Love her to death and I couln't have survived the journey without her!  To close I just want to say thank you to all that have served and made this country stronger.  Have a great time at the reunion!
