Hats off to all of those who came up with this terrific website and have worked so hard on this reunion. Wow, seeing all the names and bio's is a real blast. I know 40 yrs is a long-time, but am still surprised to see so many of our classmates on the Remembrance List. Life is good. I'm fortunate to be married 35 yrs to Geri, w/3 terrific sons, 28, 26, 23 - one is married with a 1-1/2 yr old daughter in Chicago. We live in southern Overland Park, love to travel and Geri is heavily involved in flower gardening and volunteer work. After a career in the ad agency biz, I moved to Hub International (packaging) 26 years ago, where I am currently President. I don't know whether to sign up for the school tour or not - Coach Alpaugh might still be in there looking for me to serve an old 8th hour. Who is that guy with the walker in the picture in front of SMN - is he supposed to be one of us? :-) We had a super class at a great school. Look forward to seeing you all. Thanks again to all that have been working on the reunion.  You guys are the folks in our class that have made it happen from the beginning.  Thank you.

Susie (Susie Coffine SME 1969) and I now have eight Grand Kids.  Our oldest, Drew has two in Sarsota, FL.  Adam has four with us here in Raleigh.  And Amy has two also here in Raleigh.  We are really enjoying the Grand Kid thing.  What an other great phase in your life.

I am still working.  But not near as intense as before.  I sell boats at a marina on a lake we have always loved to go to in Viginia.

Can't wait to see everyone.  Please drop me a line in the mean time.

Thanks again.

My younger daughter now advises me that one of the old rock band glossies has indeed found its way into the Photo Albums area of this very website. Rest assured that the perpetrator of this outrage will indeed pay: maybe not today, and maybe not tomorrow, but soon, and for the rest of your life.
Ah, well, might as well take this opportunity to update the pics. What is this antique I'm leaning on...some sort of primitive text-composing device? (30th anniversary portrait courtesy of

Except for KU and a couple of years afterwards working in Topeka radio, had always lived within ten miles of SM North--Mission, Merriam. then Shawnee--and both our daughters went there as well.  In 2014, relocated to Rio Rancho, New Mexico, for proximity to Ruth's side of the family (in neighboring Albuquerque) and have made it a point to get back to the KC area a time or two each year for one special event or another.

Looks like in 2019 that event will be the 50th reunion, about which I have a theory: I do not believe it is possible...

WOW  as I sit reading all the names, what great memories. I just talked to Gayla and will talk to Joyce, Tana, and Linda Wally.  Can't wait to see Sue and Allen and everybody else.  I haven't been to any of the other Reunions so looking forward to this one. Can't really believe it has been 40 years. Again WOW  see you soon. Send Betsy a MessageSend Betsy a Message

I am really looking forward to that weekend. I work as a baseball scout for the Chicago White Sox, living in the Dallas Ft.Worth area. I have made sure that I will be off and in KC that weekend. I appreciate the work that you all have done to make this weekend happen.

This website is a nice idea. Thanks to those who worked on this and the reunion. After leaving SMN and KU I lived in Atlanta, and have been in Springfield, IL  for almost 30 years.  I've been married to Pam for 26 years  and have a 22 year old son, Bryan, a student at Southern Illinois. We get back to KC often during KU b-ball season and have been amazed at the changes. Hope to see y'all at the reunion. Send Bob a MessageSend Bob a Message

I’m not going to be able to make it to the 50th Reunion, but I’d love to hear from anyone who’d like to reconnect, even if just by email!  I hope to hear from some folks, and will try reaching out as well!  Enjoy the reunion! Send Phil a MessageSend Phil a Message

Is life a dream? Going through the names here and remembering, I could imagine such a thing. My high school years weren't my happiest ones, nor my most miserable. Some of the people I attended North with went all the way back to grade school. It's disturbing to find old friends on the "dead" list, but also inevitable. Equally disturbing to not see names I'd like to see on the "live" list. Everybody is going to be a hell of a lot more decrepit than I'd like. Especially me! But briefly: I went to KU, got a journalism degree, started on Texas newspapers, ended up on California newspapers. Got sick of the biz after about 10 years; hunted an alternative for another 10; took still another 10-plus to make it work. And now I run, the bizarre confluence of plumbing and journalism. Somewhere in there, I had my midlife crisis: quit my job, sold my house, took three years out from journalism. Part of that involved going to Europe. I spent six months in Avignon, studying French and living with a French family; then three months each in Perugia and Rome, studying Italian; then two months each in Seville and Granada, studying Spanish. Then I ran out of money and had to come home. I'm now in my second childhood: MUCH more fun than the first. I went to racing school last year and got an SCCA racing license. Not sure what I'll do with it, but I'll race sooner or later, although more likely in BMW Club events or in the Skip Barber series. Probably won't win, but that's not the point; just to be doing it. No wife, no children; just an Irish setter puppy who likes to chew on my hand.  Send Randy a MessageSend Randy a Message
