Looking forward to seeing those I did not get to see in June 2009.  I lost my husband to cancer during that June and I am building a new life alone.  I can't wait to re-connect with more SMN 69 fellow students.  The age 60 gives us the right to do some things we never thought we could do....C  U  There! I remember when I was younger, thinking about finally finishing school… getting a job, not taking anymore tests, no more homework, and not writing anymore papers.   Then, years later, all my old classmates would get together to relive the glory days of high school. Now that it is actually happening, my only thoughts are…“how did we get so old?” and “where did all the time go?” After SMN, I went to KU, ended up with a degree in journalism. I have worked at television stations in KC and St. Louis.  I have been married for 28 years and have twin boys. They are now 20 years old and both in college.  It will be great to see everybody again, and thanks to those who are making all this happen.

I grew up in the Shawnee Mission school district but my family moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma before my junior year at SMN.  I have been trying for years to find out what happened to the people I grew up with and am very happy to find this wonderful site.  I can almost remember some names and faces.  Please feel free to write me.  I would love to hear from you. Hello, SMN Class of '69!  Where did all the time go?
After a 38-year career in city management in Phoenix and Charlotte, I retired - happily - in 2013.  I am a wife, stepmother and grandmother.  My husband, Denver Board, will once again be joining me at the reunion. We both have lived in Charlotte over 30 years so it's our adopted hometown.  I spend my time volunteering at my church, including at our weekly soup kitchen, delivering meals on wheels, and taking my Scottish Terrier, a social therapy dog, to assisted living facilities once a week.  I am on the board of the soup kitchen and also on the board of Chalice Press, a progressive Christian publishing company.  A busy and blessed life.  I look forward to seeing everyone in September!

I was only there a short time but my memories are vivid!

411 on me - Married for 36 years. We have three sons through college and out on their own.  They are all bigger, smarter and better looking than me (small wonder).  I am a professional land surveyor licensed in six western states; working in Northern California for nearly 20 years.

I hope to make it back; Cheers!

2019 UPdate: Greetings '69 SMN!  So grateful to have this opportunity to re-connect!  Since 2009 my daughters have grown up!  We continue to live within a few blocks of the Northpark mall in Dallas although I rarely shop there--mostly it is a walking destination for me.  I continue to work with children with dyslexia and learning disabilities in a fabulous non-profit setting where I get to interact with an amazing multi-disciplinary team of professionals serving families from all across Texas as well as pediatricians in training and in practice. Also I have a gym and trainer with a strong wellness program at my hospital. Those would be the reasons I have not yet retired. So very sad to see how many of our dear classmates have gone before us.  I can gratefully add my name to the list of breast cancer survivors, as I am certain there are many in our class. I do hope to renew friendships, and cultivate acquaintances into friendships as we get together for this reunion. Please feel free to send me a message.  I look forward to being with you all.

2009 note
Kudos to all of you who have put together this reunion!  Looks like we still are an amazing class, huh?  I love seeing how the talents and giftings apparent in HS have led each one along fascinating paths.  I'm savoring the opportunity to hear from many of you and catch up.  Yes, I'll be there!!

Life brings many challenges, and mine has been full of those like most of you.  But overall I consider myself very blessed, and enriched by the good and tough times alike.  In my early college years I lived and studied in the developing world.  That experience merged with my faith led me into medicine.   I returned to KU for my premed and med, then to Detroit for residency, then to Texas for general pediatric practice.  A failed marriage postponed family for some time, but eventually I met my husband Jim and at 37 and 41 we were blessed with healthy daughters.  Being a part of their growth and development has been a most wonderful experience. They are now juniors in HS and college.   My interests in pediatrics became more focused and in my 50's I subspecialized in developmental-behavioral issues.  This led to my current employment in a hospital devoted to children with disabilities, a position which keeps me focused on my mission each day to help children with academic problems be successful, and allows me to pass that knowledge on to residents and other physicians.

Many times I have told my daughters how important it is to keep in touch with childhood friends.  We didn't have the technology then, but we do now.  I hope to renew friendships with some of you whom I have missed these years.

I am really looking forward to this reunion.  Like most of you, my years at SMN were a wonderful time.  I left North and went to Emporia where I met my husband Steve.  We married and went on the road for several years, then lived in Houston, and now Hackett, AR.  Life has been good to us and very interesting all along the way.  We have 3 sons,  2 daughters-in law and 3 grandchildren.  I am a high school English teacher which is both the good and the bad news.  Thanks to everyone who has helped to make this reunion possible. Can't wait to tell old stories and share new ones.  Send Nancy a MessageSend Nancy a Message

Luckily and with much hard work, I lived my dream of becoming a professional cellist! Graduating from Drake U in 1973 and the Eastman School of Music in 1975. I worked in orchestras in Toledo, Ohio and the Hong Kong Philharmonic before ending up in New York, where I worked in the Brooklyn Phil and on several Broadway shows, the longest stint being in CATS. If you went to Cats, I was probably there! After it closed, as all shows do, I went back to school for a Masters in Elementary Education. And finished my working career, 13 more years, as a public school teacher in the Bronx. Whew!! Now I’m happily retired with my beau of 25 years and living north of the city where my excitement is the occasional bear or coyote in the back yard.  Send Sally a MessageSend Sally a Message

First of all, Kudos to all who worked on this website.  The site is wonderful and I have enjoyed reading the entries. I look forward to catching up with you all at the reunion.  As for me….well, I got married AGAIN.  I guess this time it took as Katy and I celebrated 20 years of marriage in February. We live in Olathe and have two wonderful daughters, 19 & 17, two cats, and a dog. The 19 year old has moved out and the 17 year old is set to go to KU this fall.  I have worked for the state of Kansas for 23 years now, most recently at the Osawatomie State Hospital, as a program consultant. My favorite thing about working at the state hospital is I get to go home every evening. There will be a big fight if they ever try to take my keys! (It was pointed out to me they have a room for people who fight a lot) Actually, as I look back, my time spent at SMN prepared me very well for a career working with the mentally ill…er… government! I do stay in touch with some of the old gang and will pass the information on to them about the reunion…I look forward to seeing you all in June.
